You've made Ajax your new home. Now is your chance to make your mark, voice your opinion, and help form the local government of your town. Ajax is one of the fastest growing municipalities in Ontario, having the second highest percentage of population growth since 2001 compared to other Durham Region municipalities. Many of these new residents are people like you, who moved from neighbouring communities or are newcomers to Canada. In fact, 31% of Ajax's population is made up of immigrants. It is important for our new residents to be well-informed and engaged in local politics.

On October 25, the Town of Ajax wants to make sure ALL eligible residents cast their vote. If you're at least 18 years of age, a Canadian citizen, and a resident of Ajax, or owner or tenant of land in Ajax, you have a right to vote.

Voting is not only a democratic right, it is also the easiest way to have a say in how your community is governed. When you cast a ballot, you are choosing someone who will represent you. Local government makes many important decisions that impact you as a resident and/or property owner. Aside from establishing a property tax rate, municipalities regulate development, create and maintain roads and infrastructure as well as operate various community programs and fire services. Voting does not require a lot of time or effort, however, it is a powerful way to send a message to those who represent you and your interests.
