So far, the advance voting results show big improvements from the last election. To date, approximately 2,200 people have cast their ballot, a 47% increase since the advance voting numbers in 2006.
In addition to the list of candidates vying for votes, electors will notice a question on the ballot: "Are you in favour of the Council of the Regional Municipality of Durham passing the necessary resolutions and by-laws to change the method of selecting its Chair from appointment by the members of Regional Council to election by general vote of all electors in the Region?"

Visiting home for the Thanksgiving long weekend? The Town of Ajax has set up advance voting days and two are taking place this weekend to make it convenient for you to vote in this year's municipal election:
Vote at either the Ajax Community Centre (75 Centennial Road) or McLean Community Centre (95 Magill Drive) during the following times:
October 9 12 to 5 p.m.
October 10 12 to 5 p.m.
The CDCD Mayoral Election Debate takes place this evening - Tuesday, October 5, 2010, 7 p.m., Ajax Town Hall, Council Chambers, 65 Harwood Avenue South.
Monday, October 25 is Election Day. The Town of Ajax recognizes that not all electors can attend a voting location on Election Day, therefore eight days have been designated as advance voting days. Two of these advance voting days which will be held on October 9 and 10 are convenient for students who may be home for the Thanksgiving weekend.
The Ward 4 CDCD Election Debate takes place this evening - Thursday, September 30, 2010, 7 p.m., Southwood Park Public School, 28 Lambard Crescent.
The Ward 3 CDCD Election Debate takes place this evening - Wednesday, September 29, 2010, 7 p.m., Lakeside Public School, 4 Parkes Drive.
The Ward 2 CDCD Election Debate takes place this evening - Tuesday, September 28, 2010, 7 p.m., Romeo Dallaire Public School, 300 Williamson Drive East.
This week, Ajax residents who are on the voters' list will receive their Voter Notification Cards in the mail. Residents who do not receive a Voter Notification Card by October 11, should check if they're on the voters' list.

First CDCD Election Debate takes place this evening - Thursday, September 23, 2010, 7 p.m., Lincoln Alexander Public School, 95 Church Street North.
Not every eligible voter will be in town to cast their vote on October 25. For these residents, the Town of Ajax has set up proxy voting, which allows another eligible voter to vote on your behalf. A qualified elector may appoint another qualified elector in the same municipality to vote on his/her behalf.
The certified list of candidates registered to run in the 2010 Municipal Election in Ajax has been finalized.
The 2010 Town of Ajax voters' list will be made available for revision from September 7, 2010 through to voting day on October 25, 2010. During this time, electors will be able to visit www.townofajax.com/vote or call 905-619-2529, ext. VOTE (8683) in order to confirm that they are on the list. If they are not, they will be asked to complete a revision form which is downloadable from the election website as well as available for pick up at Town Hall. Voters can also pick up and submit a revision form during one of the following revision days:
Deadline for Nominations is September 10 at 2 p.m.
